We’re all deserving of some self love and having a good self care morning routine at home can have a HUGE impact on your day!
Even if you are busy, adding just one or two items from this self care checklist can help you feel more loved, productive, and ready to take on the day.
No matter what your schedule looks like, you deserve some self care ideas!
Just like they say, “You can’t pour from an empty cup” so try and take even 5 minutes in the morning to make yourself a priority.
This post is all about a self care morning routine.
Best Self Care Morning Routine
1. Wake up a bit earlier
Whether you work, are a stay at home mom, or a student, waking up a bit earlier and having some time for yourself in the morning can make such a difference!
It can give you a bit of time for yourself before your busy day which can elevate your mood and help you feel more productive.
I have found using a sunrise alarm clock has helped me tremendously when waking up early.
It wakes you up slowly with a gradual sunrise simulation and nature noises which leave me feeling more rested than being woken up by a loud annoying alarm.
This alone has completely changed my mornings and helped me finally become a morning person.

2. Set the mood
As soon as you wake up try and set the mood to something you enjoy.
Open the curtains if the sun has risen, or light some candles if it’s still dark out, whatever makes you feel good!
3. Affirmations
Affirmations can be an amazing form of self care!
Your mind is powerful and if you tell yourself positive affirmations every morning, it can really help you feel confident and really start your day off right.
I’ve made some printable affirmation cards that you can have by your bedside to make it incredibly easy to give yourself some self love.
4. Try to stay off social media
It can be super tempting to pick up your phone as soon as you wake up and go on social media, but I would urge you not to.
Social media can waste a lot of time and sometimes can affect your mood negatively.
Try instead having a book next to your bed or the kindle app on your phone and read an e-book.
5. Enjoy a warm drink
Nothing excites me more in the morning than my warm cup of coffee. It’s something that I really look forward to and makes it a bit easier to get up in the morning.
Try having something warm in the morning that you really enjoy. Something warm first thing in the morning can feel so comforting and really is one of the best self care ideas.
6. Eat a heathy breakfast
Giving your body something healthy in the morning can help you feel great and can really set the tone for the day.
It can also help you make healthier choices throughout the day since you started the day off right!
If you are busy or tired in the morning to cook, try looking up healthy breakfasts that you can make ahead of time.
7. Think about your goals
If you have any goals, whether that be financial goals, relationship goals, or self development goals, the morning is a great time to think about them.
Thinking about your goals during your self care morning routine can help remind you of tasks to complete to get you closer to your goals. It can also help motivate you to be more productive throughout the day.
I’m such a believer in writing out and thinking about your goals that I made a goal tracker printable to make it easy and fun to write out your goals!
8. Plan your day
You know the saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail”. This is such a true statement and I have seen the difference planning can make first hand.
I was never a planner, and actually hated planning, but always felt like my days were scattered and never felt like I was on top of things.
Once I started planning my days, I got so much more done, felt so much more confident, and actually started reaching my goals.
I became so obsessed with planning that I designed printable and digital planners to make planning easy and fun.
9. Move
Moving your body first thing in the morning should definitely be on your morning routine list. It can elevate your mood and help you feel more energized and productive the rest of the day.
It doesn’t have to be a vigorous workout, even a simple stretch, 10 minute walk, or a little dance while making your breakfast are all great ways to get some movement into your self care morning routine.

10. Journal
Taking just a couple minutes in the morning to write out your thoughts is a great way to clear your head.
I especially love writing out what I am grateful for in the morning because it makes me feel happy and grateful the rest of the day.
It doesn’t have to take a lot of time, and I find using journal prompts makes it SO much easier.

Reading in itself can be an act of self care and it’s also a great way to learn and work on personal growth.

12. Get motivated
Find something that motivates you and listen to it in the morning and watch what a difference it can make in your productivity!
A podcast, video, quote or even looking at a vision board are all great ways to get motivated.
13. Get ready
Last but definitely not least is to get ready for the day!
Even if you are staying at home that day, taking a couple minutes to get ready makes a big difference in your mood and productivity.
You don’t have to do full glam everyday, even just picking out a nice outfit, doing your skincare routine, and fixing your hair makes ALL the difference!
