When coming home after a long day, sometimes the last thing we care about is to look good at home. Home is where we can wind down, put on that wrinkled stained shirt with last weeks’ dinner still on it, and just chill out.

Things get even worse when we’re home for an extended period. Showers become less and less used, hair less and less brushed and before you know it, you start to look and smell….not so pleasant.

I honestly believe that when you look good at home, it can really elevate your mood. I have found that it makes me feel more self confident and more productive throughout the day.

When I look and feel like a slob, I’m way less motivated and just don’t feel as good about myself.

1. Shower Regularly and Maintain Basic Grooming

Staying consistent with showering and grooming when you wake up will set the mood for the rest of the day. Try to shower not long after waking up. If you’re a person that prefers to shower at night, then change out of your pyjamas when you wake up and brush your teeth and hair.

You will not only look better, but feel more refreshed and ready for the day.

2. Get Dressed

Once in awhile is ok, but I find when we stay in pyjamas all day we become less productive and much more likely to spend all day in bed or on the couch.

We also usually look and feel better when we get dressed for the day rather than staying in our pjs.

3. Good Skincare

Having a good skincare routine can make a huge difference in how you look and feel everyday. Instead of purchasing a lot of different cheaper skincare products, I switched to investing in just one or two better quality products and have noticed a HUGE difference in my skin.

I started using Tatcha products because the difference in my skin was amazing and I’ll never go back to another brand. When I use these products my skin has such a beautiful glow and I feel really good even without makeup.

Try to simplify your skincare routine and invest in just one or two good quality skincare products and you’ll most likely notice a big difference in the look of your skin.

Using a face steamer is another great way to have great looking skin. It can make your skin look super hydrated and refreshed and is fantastic to use before any skincare.

It is also helps a lot with things like blackheads.

4. Clean Nails

Having nice clean nails can make a big difference in your overall look. You don’t always have to wear nail polish to have your nails look good. Even simple grooming with a good nail file once in a while can make your nails look really good.

This electric nail file is super fast and easy to use which makes it a lot easier to maintain nice looking nails at home. It comes with different attachments to shape, buff and shine to make your nails look good even without nail polish.

If you do like having nail polish on most of the time, then I would suggest purchasing a gel nail kit. Gel nail polish lasts way longer and doesn’t chip as much as regular nail polish. Purchasing a gel nail kit yourself is way more cost efficient and saves you way more time than constantly going to the salon.

Stick on nails is another great way to easily have cute nails at home. These stick on nails are so quick and easy to put on and are super affordable. And they have so many cute colors and patterns

They are my absolute favorite way to have cute nails at home because it is so easy and saves you a ton of money from going to the salon.

5. Clean Teeth and Hydrated Lips

A nice smile can make ALL the difference. Having clean white teeth and hydrated lips can make you feel and look good at home.

Along with good dental hygiene, using whitening strips once in awhile can help keep your teeth whiter.

Using gentle lip exfoliators and a good lip mask are great ways to keep your lips looking super smooth and hydrated. These lip brushes are super gentle but are fantastic for gently exfoliating the lips.

I also love using a good lip mask like this one which has amazing reviews. It’s a fantastic lip mask that you can put on while sleeping and wake up to incredibly soft lips.

6. Find Easy Hairstyles

This is probably my BIGGEST tip for looking good at home! I find whenever my hair looks somewhat put together, then I look and feel good overall.

But I’m absolutely terrible at doing any type of hairstyle! Even blow drying my hair comes out looking…. not so cute.

That’s why I am obsessed with good hair tools that can give you a cute hairstyle with very minimal effort.

My absolute favorite is a blow dry brush! It is the only way that I can get a sleek looking blow out, and it is SO easy. I’ll usually use it on Sundays and that way I have a cute blow out for a couple days until I wash my hair.

My next two favorite are a straightening brush and hair waver.

I love the straightening hair brush because I find it SO much easier and faster than a straightener and because it gets my hair straight but not pin straight, so I still have volume in it.

And the hair waver I LOVE because it just gives my hair the most beautiful waves in literally under 10 minutes!

On days where you don’t want to use heat you can try to find simple and easy hairstyles like putting your hair in braids or a messy bun.

Wearing cute hair accessories can make your hair look effortlessly cute. I absolutely love wearing headbands or hair pins like the ones linked below. It’s such a fun and easy way to look cute.

7. Keep Up With Hair Removal

Having smooth skin can instantly make you look better than if you forgot to shave for a couple days.

I personally hate shaving everyday and much prefer the smooth look that waxing or epilating gives. I will say that it does hurt a bit at first but I found that I got used to it and don’t mind it as much now.

Whenever I epilate or wax, I’m always so much happier with the result than shaving. It lasts way longer and makes my legs look a lot smoother.

8. Wear Cute Loungewear

Many times we keep ugly, worn out clothes in our closet just to wear at home. Clear your closet of anything you don’t like, is too worn out, or has stains and holes. Try to narrow your lounge wear to only items that you really like and that make you feel good when wearing.

You don’t need to spend a ton of money, but once in awhile try purchasing cute lounge wear pieces that make you feel really good.

9. Wear Cute Pjs

I believe the previous tip should be applied for pyjamas too. Yes, your pyjamas should be comfortable, but they can also look cute as well. Im obsessed with these pyjamas linked below. They are a perfect example of how pjs can be comfortable but also so cute. I love wearing cute pjs. It’s an easy way to feel good when waking up and when going to sleep.

10. Eat Well and Exercise

We all know the health benefits of eating well and exercising. But eating healthy and exercising can make a HUGE difference on how you look as well.

If you eat well and exercise, it can have fantastic effects on your skin and body, along with so many other great health benefits.
