Then you’ll love this step-by-step cleaning schedule for apartment!
An apartment cleaning schedule is an easy way to help keep your home clean and organized everyday!
Having a cleaning schedule does not mean that you have to spend hours and hours each day cleaning.
It means that you have a guide for what needs to be accomplished and when.
A good apartment cleaning schedule helps keep you organized and prevents you from falling into a rut of doing the same chores over and over without ever getting around to seeing to the ones that are never done.
This schedule spreads out cleaning tasks throughout the week, that way you don’t have to spend your whole weekend cleaning.
This apartment cleaning schedule is simple but effective so it’s perfect for when you are busy or feeling lazy!
This post is all about a cleaning schedule for apartments.
Apartment Cleaning Schedule
Before I get into the post, I wanted to mention that having a cleaning schedule template which you can write out your cleaning schedule helped me SO much!
This one below is blank which makes it easy to write out your own schedule.
Having a schedule written out helped me stay on track and kept me more motivated to stick to you.
You can use it digitally, or print it out as well.
You can print it out as many times as you need, that way you can change the schedule week to week.
Monday: Vacuum/Sweep All Rooms
Mondays can be hectic so I try to keep the cleaning tasks on Mondays simple.
Vacuuming or sweeping the floors is relatively easy and can be done fairly quickly in an apartment.
I like batching tasks like doing all the room floors at once, that way I only have to take the vacuum out once.
A lightweight cordless vacuum makes this SOO much easier!! I absolutely hated lugging a heavy vacuum around with a cord and once I got a cordless one it was game changing!
I can vacuum all the rooms way faster and easier!
If you’re looking for a cordless vacuum this one has great reviews and is lightweight, cordless, and super affordable.
The design is also great for easily vacuuming under couches and beds!
Tuesday: Bathroom
After having a day with an easy and quick cleaning task, I then follow it with the hardest task the next day which, in my opinion, is the bathroom!
I start with spraying the shower/tub with a cleaner and letting it sit for a few minutes.
I really like using a foam cleaner like this one to really get rid of soap scum.
Then I spray the countertop and sink with a bathroom cleaner and let that sit as well.
I really love using this brand because it’s more plant based and the smell isn’t so harsh.
While I let the shower and countertop cleaners sit, I will clean the bathroom mirror and the toilet.
For the glass, this glass cleaner is super affordable and has really great reviews!
For the toilet I don’t like using anything reusable so I like using wipes for the outside of the toilet.
Reusable toilet bowl cleaning brushes really freak me out so I like using a disposable cleaning brush.
I find this way easier to use and I can easily dispose of the brush after use.
Once I’m finished wiping down the mirror and cleaning the toilet, I then go back and clean the shower and tub and countertops.
I find when I let the cleaner sit for a bit, it’s easier to clean the soap scum.

Wednesday: Dust
Since the day before we tackled the bathrooms, I like keeping the next day light and easy.
I like using reusable dusters to save money. They are super easy to wash and re-use.
I do keep some disposable dusters on hand incase I don’t have any clean reusable ones.
Thursday: Kitchen
After having a relatively easy cleaning day on Wednesday, I try to follow it with a bit harder task the next day: the kitchen.
I’ll start by taking out the trash, washing and putting away all the dishes, and cleaning the sink.
I’ll then clean and organize the fridge that way it’s nice and clean for when I do grocery shopping on the weekend.
I love love LOVE using fridge organizers!
It has made SUCH a difference in how clean and organized my fridge looks.
It also makes it soo much easier to clean. I can easily take out the organizers and wipe the shelves.
I then like to wipe down kitchen appliances and counters.
For the kitchen I like using a more natural cleaner and some good cleaning cloths.
I love this cleaner and cloth combo below because it really helps get hard stains out and I love the smell!
Friday: Mop
On Fridays I like to keep the cleaning task nice and easy, especially since Thursday was a bit harder.
I use two different mops, one for the bathroom and one for the rest of the rooms.
I don’t like using a reusable mop head for the bathroom so I like to use these wet pads.
For the rest of the rooms I LOVE using this mop.
I find it way easier to use because I can spray and mop instead of lugging around a bucket of water.
I also love how it’s lightweight and I can use my own cleaner and the pads are washable.

Saturday and Sunday: Laundry and Catch Up
I don’t like doing much cleaning on the weekends so I’ll usually just do laundry and anything else that I didn’t get to do throughout the week.
The key to a clean apartment is consistency
The key to a clean apartment is consistency. If you want to keep your apartment looking its best, you need to make cleaning a regular habit and priority in your life.
Here are some tips for making it happen:
- Set aside time every week to clean up after yourself. This can be on the same day each week or whenever works best for your schedule—just make sure it’s consistent!
- Set reminders on your phone or calendar so that you don’t forget when it’s time to clean.
- Keep supplies like paper towels, trash bags, vacuum cleaners, and other essentials close at hand so that they’re easy to get when needed. A cleaning caddy is great for this!
- Make sure all supplies are stocked for the week.
