Giving your clothes some care and knowing how to keep your clothes looking good can make a huge difference in how your outfits look.
These tips are easy and don’t take up a lot of time.
This post is all about how to keep your clothes clean.
1. Steam your clothes
While ironing your clothes can seem annoying and takes too much effort, steaming your clothes is easier and faster and can make your clothes look brand new!
It’s an amazing way to get rid of wrinkles and makes your clothes look really good.
I love steaming my clothes even if they’re not wrinkled because I find it makes the clothes look better and cleaner.
You don’t need a bulky ironing board to steam your clothes either and theyre super affordable!
2. Use a clothes shaver
Some clothes can get those super annoying fuzz balls on them which can make them look super old.
A clothes shaver is super affordable, small enough to travel with, and shaves off the fuzz to make clothes look so much better.
This is the one I use and I love it! Makes all my sweaters and leggings look new again.
3. Use a lint roller
Lint roller is a definite must to make sure your clothes look clean and good!
Nothing can ruin an outfit more than lint or pet hair.
Keeping a lint roller in your closet and in your car makes it super easy to use really quick.
They even have cute small ones to throw in your purse.

4. Pay attention to the labels on clothes
It takes a few extra seconds, but looking at the labels of clothes and making sure you wash them correctly can make a huge difference.
The label should tell you whether to use cold water, if it can be tumble dried, if it can be ironed, etc.
Sometimes it will just have symbols on the label so it’s worth getting to know what these symbols mean.
A quick internet search can help with that or there’s also this super cute laundry care reference chart I found that’s magnetic so you can stick it on your washing machine or dryer or you could frame it and hang it as well.
5. Try to hang dry what you can
Although using a dryer is faster, some clothes can start to look worn out after being dried numerous times.
That’s why it’s best to hang dry most items when possible; this will keep them looking good longer while maintaining their shape.
It will also save you money by air drying them.
They have tons of affordable foldable clothes dryer to make it super easy to hang dry your clothes.
6. Use the correct water temperature
This was sort of covered in the first point but is super important so I thought it should be mentioned separately.
This is because the heat from warm or hot water can damage the fibers of some of your clothes and cause them to fade over time.
Opting for a little less warmth is also kind of like saving money on your utility bill, so that’s a bonus!
Use warm water on most clothes (as long as the label shows warm water is ok). While hot water is recommended for tough stains, it can also be damaging.
Cold water is usually better for delicate fabrics but always check the label to be sure.
Don’t use boiling water to wash your clothes. Boiling can cause shrinkage and fabric damage in some materials and also leave behind spots that are almost impossible to remove!
7. Don’t overload the washer
It can be tempting to try and shove as much laundry as you can into one load but it won’t wash your clothes very well.
It can also ruin clothes by water damage due to pileup during the wash cycle (and no doubt some mildew).
To keep your clothes clean and dry, try not to overstuff any machines or dryers with too many garments at once.
8. Don’t use too much detergent.
Even though it would seem like using more detergent would get your clothes cleaner, it doesn’t.
Too much detergent can cause your clothes to feel stiff and look dull when they come out of the wash cycle or even have cloudy spots on them from detergent residue.
It can also interfere with the washer’s ability to do its job properly!
9. Drying your clothes
Like mentioned earlier, it’s usually best to hang dry your clothes.
But for times when you do use a dryer, there are a few things you can do to make sure they’re clean and fresh.
First, make sure you use the dryer on low heat. If you use high heat, the fabric can become brittle and look worn out.
Also overstuffing your dryer with too many clothes will actually take longer for them all to get warm and clean.
Make sure each load only isn’t overstuffed so everything gets evenly heated.

10. Fold or hang clothes as soon as they’re out of the dryer
Avoid wrinkles by unloading clothes from the dryer immediately and folding/hanging as soon as possible.
Leaving them in the dryer can cause them to get wrinkled.
11. Take care of stains right away
Stains are annoying to deal with but they’re even worse when they are not dealt with right away.
The longer a stain sits on clothing, the harder it will be to remove.
That’s why it’s a good idea to not only have a good stain remover at home but also carry stain remover stick with you on the go.
This helps to make it easy to get rid of stains right away so they don’t become permanent and impossible to get rid of.
